Everything you need to know before you apply

Who can apply

Brightbridge Scholarships is open to Kenyan students enrolled in, or admitted to, an approved post-secondary institution who face genuine financial challenges.

• Public and private universities
• National, technical and private colleges
• TVET institutions
• KMTC and other medical training institutions
• Other approved post-secondary institutions

Eligibility requirements

You must satisfy all of the following at the time of applying.

• You are a Kenyan citizen with a National ID / Maisha Card, or a birth certificate entry number if you are not yet issued with an ID.
• You are enrolled in or admitted to an eligible institution and hold a valid registration/admission number.
• You can demonstrate financial need in your household.
• You have a phone number and email address that are not already linked to another Brightbridge account.
• You submit only one application per cycle.

Application process

Registration, email verification, personal information, institution details, parent or guardian information, review questions, final review and declaration, then payment of the processing fee and submission. Your dashboard shows your completion percentage at every step.

Required documents

Prepare clear scans or photographs before you begin.

• Passport-style photograph (camera or gallery upload)
• National ID / Maisha Card, or birth certificate where applicable
• Institution admission or registration letter
• Supporting documentation for disability, orphanhood or institutional care where applicable
• Any evidence of existing sponsorship (HELB, CDF or other)

Application period

The current cycle runs for 31 days, from 2 September 2026 to 3 October 2026. Applications submitted after the deadline are not considered.

Selection process

Applications are assessed against criteria published by Brightbridge Scholarships, which may include financial need, family background, academic information, number of dependents and vulnerability. Weighting is configured by authorised administrators and the final award remains subject to the organisation's approved scholarship policy.

Verification

Every submitted application enters document verification. Reviewers confirm identity, institution details and supporting documents. You may be asked for clarification through your dashboard notifications.

Appeals

If your application is not approved, you receive the rejection reason and the administrator's written explanation, and you may appeal at any time before the disbursement process for the cycle begins. Once disbursement commences, appeals for that cycle are automatically closed.

Allocation

Approved applicants are allocated a specific award amount. The allocation interface only appears after approval. Funds may be allocated to the institution, to the student where permitted, or split between tuition, student support and books or materials.

Disbursement

Before any release you confirm your name, application number, verified payment destination and allocated amount. The released amount can never exceed the allocated amount. When the full allocation has been released the available balance becomes KSh 0 and the disbursement is marked complete.
